WHAT'S "BANDINI SUPER TRCKS"?

Here is a report of "BANDINI SUPER TRACKS OPENING RACE".  I'm glad to introduce our 1/32 track.

At Fuji-City, located at the foot of Mt.Fuji in Japan, there is a model car shop "BANDINI MODELS" <ootaya@thn.ne.jp>  The owner, Mr.Ohta, got interested in 1/32 slot cars recently and soon he decided to have his own track.

He and his friends started to built one with Scalextric tracks but it was hard because we have little information or know-how about 1/32 slot cars in Japan so they asked for advice on web.  Fortunately some slot car webmasters  gave them advice and help.

At last they completed "BANDINI SUPER TRACKS" on 26th Nov.'00  (4lane,about 65feet length)

On 16th Dec.the opening race was held.  It consists of 2 classes, Fly classic and Fly modern GT. The rules are simple:  No modification is allowed except for adding weight and each driver has to entry by name of his favorite famous racing driver. (i.e. N.Pikket, L.Peterson, J.Clark, etc.)

At 8:30 p.m, qualifying started.  Qualifying has two rounds, each driver has 3 minutes for each round and after changing lanes, the second round begins.

After 2 round, best lap time of each round is recorded and according to the total the position is determined.  Top four drivers compete each other at A final(80 laps), next four drivers B final(60 laps), and next four C final(40 laps)...

The race was really fantastic!  We were excited and fascinated by 1/32 slotcar-racing!  Though almost all of the entrants were beginners, the winner of GT class ran no de-slot in 80 laps, and dead heat with the second winner lasted final lap!  We all applauded them heartily.  And the winners of each class were presented new 1/32 slot cars by the generous owner, Mr.Ohta.

Well, the opening race was very successful, I think.  We'll have 8 series of races and 2 endurance races next year.
We are all looking forward to the next race!
